The Wellness, Equity, and Empowerment Center (W.E. Empower Center) is a community resource hub that focuses on the whole person by bringing the San Gabriel Valley residents together through community events, health and wellness activities and workshops, financial literacy education, workforce and career development, youth and transitional-aged youth programming, racial and social justice programming, affordable housing support, and linkages to referrals. All in multiple languages – English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese. We are proud to offer an expanded array of services catering to various age groups, including teens, transitional age youths, adults, and seniors. Guided by our unwavering commitment to equity and social change, YWCA-SGV passionately pursues its mission through thoughtful programming and fruitful collaborations with our partners in San Gabriel Valley. Together, we strive to empower individuals and ignite a positive transformation within our community!

PURPOSE

The W.E. Empower Center is a resource hub that aims to

  • reduce stigma of health, medical, and social services
  • improve financial stability by providing financial literacy education
  • increase employment readiness for youth and adults
  • increase home ownership for historically marginalized communities
  • increase racial and social justice advocacy

Our mission is to promote wellness and help the residents of San Gabriel Valley thrive by providing valuable services and resources through community events, health education, and wellness activities, all while recognizing and celebrating cultural diversity.

ADVOCATING FOR EQUITY

Advocating for change takes commitment, courage, and compassion. Our Racial & Social Justice (RSJ) Taskforce offers strategies and resources to become an effective advocate to eliminate racism, while offering a safe healing and restoration space for healthy dialogue.

EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMING

We have programming that aims to empower growth, including mental health workshops, trauma-informed care webinars, financial literacy education, 40-Hour DV Advocacy Training, Mental Health First Aid Training, Pathways to Empowerment Program, and Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Training.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Our agency works with the community through event planing, outreach, and by creating inclusive spaces to hear the needs of the community. We use the insights to meet the needs of the community and to make services and resources easily accessible.
