AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS

Advocating for the Needs of the Homeless

YWCA of San Gabriel Valley has been an advocate for affordable housing and addressing the needs of the homeless. The lack of affordable housing continues to impact SGV communities. The YWCA-SGV has worked directly with the City of Covina and Glendora in providing supportive and needed services to those impacted and/or at risk of being homeless. Interest areas include:

  • Homelessness as it relates to those fleeing from violence;
  • The impact of homelessness as it relates to transitional age youth;
  • The housing crisis and older adults living with limited income; and
  • The need for greater housing and family resources.

The YWCA of San Gabriel Valley is a big proponent of prevention, and is an advocate for additional resources for families impacted by the housing crises and at risk of being homeless.
